MG TD TF 1500 - Pulled Thread
I've just sent this email to the webmaster. Hi Mike, Wondering what happened to my thread? This issue of the kit springs as sold by Len Fanelli is very important & has generated a lot of interest worldwide. Any dealer who uses this forum to sell goods that aren't up to scratch should be stopped from advertising his wares rather than have a TD owner prevented from airing his concerns & sharing those with the TD fraternity.. Can you please look into this matter & have the thread reinstated. Thanks Mike Cheers Peter Hehir |

I personally think that thread should have been better served in private emails between the two parties. It was far too technical for me anyway. I could not choose a "winner" based on what I read. Just my opinion, Ed |

I am one who has thanked the Webmaster for having terminated that thread. There are limits and they were being exceeded. Bud |

Very mixed messages regarding this thread. How many times has Moss been chastised on this forum for the quality of their parts, maybe the cam/valve spring issue falls into the same category. Yes the post was starting to read like the "Forsyte Saga" however the level of technical research Peter applied to this issue needs to be communicated. His offer to include others in the correct parts procurement process was generous. I believe Peter needs to document his process to install these components, I would be optimistic that Bud would be prepared to include the paper in his technical index. |

Thanks Graeme. For me it has only ever been about the cars. We are just custodians & our TD's will be here long after we're gone. My only regret is that others will now be denied the opportunity to make an informed decision. And that gentlemen is my final word on the subject! Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

We all know that almost no two T series cars coming off the line in the 50's, were identical. Over the years most of these cars have become even more different. Any supplier whether it is Moss, Fanelli, Abingdon etc. is bound to have a difficult time satisfying everyone. I am amazed that these suppliers exist at all and do as well as they do. Where would we be without them? I understand Peter's frustration. We've all been there to one degree or another. I installed his kit recently and had never been inside an engine before. He was not always instantly available but I didn't expect him to sit around waiting for my questions. I got my answers and got the job done and I am delighted with the quality of the parts and their performance. I don't know how many cars are on the road with his kit but there must be hundreds. I did hesitate to write on this thread but I felt it was all one sided. Bud is right. There are limits. Let's move on. Mort |

Peter, I read your original thread with interest and learned a bit about valve springs in the process. I believe it would still be here if you had stuck with the facts and avoided the personal attacks against Len. I have no dogs in this fight except that I've considered one of Len's kits in the past, and appreciated the feedback you were giving, but in my opinion you took it a bit too far. For the admin of this site, who is normally very hands-off, to take the time to delete a thread, he must have had a lot of complaints about it. I will say that it would have been nice if the thread had been edited to remove the personal attacks rather than delete the entire thing. There was some really interesting and educational information in there that I have not seen discussed here before. This happens too often on so many forums because it's less effort for the admin to delete than to edit. |
