MG TD TF 1500 - Question for early TD owners

The TD 1250 (yes thats the car number) I have been working on has a hard line from the pump to the filter that I have not come across elsewhere. I'm to the point of installing the steering shaft and I find that the shaft sits directly on top of the line and in fact I see evidence that it has worn the line down. I don't like that at all. So I am wondering if other early owners have the same pipe and if they had the same issue?

I have been working on a LHD TDC and a RHD TD and both have an "S" shaped pump to filter pipe. This well clears the steering on the LHD car. I can't remember the numbers but both were in 1100 area.

Here is a screenshot from the Safety Fast video. TD has slotted wheels, so I am assuming it is close to the one you are working on.

I see an S pipe for the oil line.

It does look like the early line was a bit less bent than later. Here is mine.

Mine is an early’51 assembly car. It has the pipe.

Ok then, looks like I either get to make a new one or he buys one.

Hello LaVerne. If you decide to make one they are made from steel tubing and hard soldered(silver) to the brass fittings. And the orientation of the fittings are at different angles so you will need to make a jig to hold the ends at the correct angles.

I have a few spare lines if you think any of them might work

This past weekend, I looked at a few early TDs at the Portland ABFM and all seemed to have about a thumb width of space between the pipe and the steering shaft. That is what I find on my car as well. Wonder if it would be possible to remove thee pipe and bend it a bit to provide more clearance yet still keep the proper angles for the end banjo fittings.

This is routing of my 10/50 td oil pipe.
it seems mine clear steering by about a 1/4 "

Thanks for the pictures and comments fellas. I believe this one here was home job "fix it" and the owner of the car is going to pick up another proper pipe.
