MG TD TF 1500 - Racing screen post
Hi I am preparing to re-install the old Brooklands screens to the scuttle of my TF. They date back to the 70's or earlier. For those of you who have these, are yours set up like mine, with a small hex screw there to tighten down on the screen mount pin? I've always thought they looked funky like this. Seems like an Allen hex set screw would look nicer. Does anyone know of a source for BSF or BA threaded set screws? Thank you. Tom '54 TF ![]() |

Tom, I believe it's supposed to be a set screw with an allen head as in this photo. I would try and get a stainless set screw for it. PJ![]() |

As an alternative (read: cheap - like me!) solution you could cut the head off that hex bolt, file the remaining screw top nice and smooth and then use a thin hacksaw to cut a neat slot in it, creating a bespoke slotted grub (set) screw. |

Tom, what size is that screw? There are steel 1/4 inch BSF grub screws. PJ |

Here's what I'm talking about. PJ

Paul Thanks for your help on this. Yes, that is what I am talking about. Do you know where I can get BSF grub screws? Tom |

Here's some Tom, http://www.britishfasteners.com/index.php/categories/steel-bsf-grub-screws http://www.modern-screws.co.uk/product-category/grub-screws/ http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-8-034-BSF-SOCKET-SET-SCREWS-GRUB-SCREWS-3-8-034-1-2-034-10-PACKS-/130697724143 |

You led me right there Paul. Thank you. I wonder if you or anyone else can determine if this would be BSF or BA grub. It seems to be a 1/4 screw that I have. As I see this, the BSF ones are the thicker 3/8 in screws. And, it needs to be a short grub. Tom |
