MG TD TF 1500 - Radiator Lacing Strip
Trying to wind the lacing strip through the radiator shell holes is tedious. Is there a trick for doing this faster? thanks, Tyler |

A couple of cans of OSH while you're doing it. Won't really go faster, but you won't care. Bud |

I'm glad this came up. I will be moving on to this job on my TF. I had the shell chromed recently. Should I place the lacing on loosly FIRST and then position the shell to it's fittings?, Or, mount the shell and THEN thread the lacing through its holes? Tom '54 TF |

I did it afterwards. It is no more trouble than lacing your boots! |

On of the reasons its so hard is the current lacing is twice as thick as it was originally. Its been that way for 40 years or more. |

I gave up on the stuff I got from Moss, too fat. I cut strips from an inner tube, doubled them over and installed. Might not be politically correct, but the side panels on the TF don't stick out "proud". Al 54 TF "Emma" |

To give credit where credit is due, I ordered some rubber for the radiator webbing from this company per the recommendation from Chris Couper. http://store20.prestostore.com/catalog.php?ref=rsrstore&dt=&pd=2143493&or=9733211 It is thin and comparing what was remaining on my car, this is a great match. Thanks frank, I'm sending my Moss strip back to Moss, and ordering the Prestostore stuff. Tyler |
