MG TD TF 1500 - rear indicator lights

As my current rear indicator lights are via the rear light cluster and it is quite apparent that this is not really satisfactory for modern traffic-especially at night on motorways, what have others found the best approach to solve this problem.Do I add something under the bumper or add them elsewhere avoiding changinging permanently the integrity of the car.

I used indicators designed for motor bikes. Totally reversible.
Cheers.

That is all fine on a TF and looks quite nice but the TD number plate location is a problem as it would obscure the indicators.

Great idea Dave.Thankyou. Hopefully will fit in with luggage rack. Should be OK as mines a low level rack

There are a large number of high intensity LED conversions for nearly all MGs from 1931 to 1962. They average 10 times as bright as either an incandescent bulb or a LED bulb.

Here’s my solution:

I was too slow with the edit function! The amber rings were found on eBay and are available in 5mm increments. These prototypes are siliconed on where the chrome retaining rings usually fit after trimming with a sharp blade to create a flat surface.
Along with amber/white LEDs at the front I have been able to configure reasonably modern indicators all round with hazard lights.
Sorry if the image is upside down - but I do live in Aus!

This message is basically to Dave Moore. I've finally got around to following your great solution to rear indicators on my TF. Just one question what was your ideal source wiring connection to the brake switch. Did you just run a positive from the nearest location having disconnected it from five (green and purple) on the flasher unit?
