MG TD TF 1500 - Rear Side Curtain question
My 1951 MGTD does not appear to have any rear side curtains. Was there any version of convertible top that did not require separate rear side curtains? I've spent some time looking around and haven't seen a TD yet that didn't have them... Yet another item I need to look for? |

Only on after market hard tops. To be honest I think the factory would have done better to omit the rear curtains and fashioned the top with some quarter windows in that area. |

I just finished cranking up the old top and stretching it out. It's torn and damaged beyond repair... but interestingly, this top DOES NOT NEED rear side curtains. Check out the images; the top drops vertically and matches to the front side curtain without needing the rear panel. So what's going on? I'm confused!

Looks like an after market vinyl top that did away with the side curtains. |

I wonder if anybody still makes this kind? |

Picture attached was taken in 1967. It was not until I started looking for side curtains that I realized the rear windows were incorrect. I still have the old top, Its not on, but I plan to change it this spring. (BTW My son is now 51 and my daughter is 50). Jim B. ![]() |
