MG TD TF 1500 - rear side curtain rivet source
Where would I find the correct rivets to finish off my rear side curtains? I'm not even sure what to ask for at a hardware store. Alex
Alex Waugh
Probably ain't "correct" but ACE Hardware. Just ask for "rivets". They sell the guns also - cheap. See archives. You'll probably find my old questions from when I did mine. Ed

I also went to an ACE Hardware, but I bought the split rivet, and backed them with hard washers where I split them. I felt the larger head rivets that came with the side curtain kit were too large.

Alex, now you've got the ultimate credibility from Dave Braun! As I remember I didn't know how to remove the old rivets. You just drill them out with an electric drill if that's a factor for you. Ed

Check out the Granger online catalogs for solid rivets.
Chris Couper
Originally they were a solid round head 1/8" alloy rivet with an alloy washer underneath. The inside was hammered over the frame to hold, using a rivet set on the outside.
Rod Brayshaw
Alex I had no success procuring split rivets for this task until someone suggested going to a horse saddler. Instant result. Graeme
