MG TD TF 1500 - RF supression ignition wires

I'm getting old so forgive me in advance. I seem to remember that not long ago someone installed a set... I have my reasons why. I think it might have been Bud but I'm not sure. Anyway can someone point me to that thread. I can't seem to find it in the archives. I don't want to reinvent the wheel if it's already been done.

Thanks.
MG LaVerne

LaVerne,
I did post something about some Magnecor wires. I will look it up and let you know.
They work great.

You have email.

Maybe just use RF supresion plugs ?

LeVerne, I made my own by modifying the distributor end of standard suppression wires. Bud

LED, you have more mail. Bud

Rather than sending emails to LaVerne, can you share with the group? If he couldn't find them then there's a good chance others (including myself) can't find the info either.

Thanks,

I should have been clearer...I have already purchased a set of silicone carbon plug wires from NAPA...about 30 bucks. I'm looking how the distributor end of the wires were addressed. I have some ideas but I thought somebody else had already "been there and done that"

I also have a set of new silicone solid wire core plug wires from NAPA... about 20 bucks. If you aren't looking for "correct" its a much better deal for the spark plug connections than the petal connectors.

I also just used RF suppression plugs, worked great (I have multiple electronic items installed on my TD, shock horror. But they are all invisible...)

Here's what I sent to LED. It shows distributor ends that I was modifying after crimping standard ends onto NAPA suppression cables. Bud

I didn't get that Bud but it looks like you tied the carbon core in a knot after running it through the brass disc

Can you describe whats going on with the next two?
MG LaVerne

Should show up in your mailbox one of these days. These are some trial cables that I had in the basement. That top one was my saying "what if I just tied a knot below the brass washer?" I didn't try it because it has no mechanical strength. The next one down is a bent and filed standard clip after crimping it onto the cable.
Next one down is a crimped on brass clip after bending it and filing it to get it to fit into the distributor. Bottom one is a standard brass clip from a package picked up at NAPA before I began bending and filing it. I spent about $75 for the crimper.
If trying this approach there is one VERY BIG thing to remember - slide the threaded nut over the cable before you crimp on the connector!!!! Bud

Thanks Bud

LaVerne check out the thread "Spark Plug Wires". Everything you need to know. Cheers

Bud, I think you were building those spark plug wires in connection with testing the Pertronix Lobe Sensing igniter. Can you (perhaps in a new or reactivated thread) give us an update on your experience with the LS igniter. Subject to your report, I'm ready to buy a set of resistance wires from you and install the positive-earth LS igniter in my '53 TD. Thanks. Jud

I'd almost forgotten, Jud. I'll get back to you offline. Bud
