MG TD TF 1500 - Sad News

Long time T-series racer, restorer, Classic MG Club founder, and my MG mentor and friend Will Bowden passed away today after a long illness. He taught my son how to drive a stick shift in one of his racing TFs at GOF South on Jekyll Island many years ago. Will touched almost everyone with a T-series in central Florida over the years. His comradery, wisdom, humor and stories will be missed. Picture below: GOF South Crystal River 2011, with George Pardee, Will Bowden, my son Will, and myself. George

One of the very early NEMGTR members (#146). A search of the TSO CD-ROM shows many instances of Will's wisdom going back to 1965. He'll certainly be missed in the world of T-car folks. Bud

I always loved seeing Will at the Florida GOF's...I remember him hounding me to buy an aluminum firewall for the TC I was building to vintage race (bought the firewall but never raced the TC). One of my fondest memories of Will was a few years ago at the vintage races at Mid-Ohio. Will was there in his TF, flogging it around the track, non-competitive but having a ball...I'm going to miss him.

I've owned my TF for only four years, so I envy those of you who knew Will for decades.

I went to Will's shop the first week that I owned my TF. He showed me parts, cars, and 60 years of MG how-to for four hours. It was the best day of my gearhead life. He became my hands-on teacher. His vast storehouses of "T" parts helped enthusiasts all over the country. Impromptu gatherings at his shop by club members, clients, and friends were always special.
