MG TD TF 1500 - Setting the leaf springs

good morning everybody.
Is there somebody who can give me the correct setting of the TD rear axle leaf spring?

There are two reasons for my question is:
- When I look from the rear it looks like that the
driver’s side is more downward then the other side.
- I like to pull a camping trailer behind my TD which
will add an extra down load of about 40 kg.

The picture enclosed shows my 1953 TD and my trailer a

Oh, I just found a picture which can be helpful.

The measurement I'm looking for is called chamber in this case 4,1 inch,
without any load.
With a load of 500 lbs, the chamber value will be reduced by ˝” (12,7 mm) or dos it means the chamber value will be reduced by 50% about 2”.
Thank you for your help

Guenter,
Chamber is not spelled correctly it should be camber. This is a measurement of angle or bend.
I run a TF with TD rear springs and also tow a trailer. 40kilo nose weight seems to deflect only 12.5mm
Neat little camper.

Yes it should be camber - technically speaking it is the max depth of the chord drawn across a curve or part of the circumference of a circle.

@ Ray, @ Dave, thank you for teaching me.
In the drawing shown in my previous post is given a measurement of 4,2 inch. Dos it means without any load?
Do you know the correct distance for the camber as shown in the picture for a MG-TD?
GK Guenter

The 4.2 inch is with the spring off the car, it is 0.5 inch on the car. the TF runs at zero camber so as long as you have positive camber you are OK.
Although the TF is designed for zero camber I found that with a trailer and a full tank I hit the rubber stops too often. I fitted TD springs and the problem went away. There was no appreciable change in handling.
