MG TD TF 1500 - Side curtain rivets
Hi, I'm about to replace the side screens (curtains) on my TD and am wondering what's the best way of securing the bottom of the rear screens to the frame? Would blind rivets suffice or are split rivets preferable such as Dave DuBois has used? Thanks, Mike. |

Either will work but split are more historically correct. Don't forget the washers. |

Split rivets? I thought they were more of. Two part tube type rivet..cannot think if the name off the top of my head..darn. With a head on both sides. Regards, tom |

The rivets were originally a solid round head in alloy with a alloy washer on the outside. The rivet was peined over on the inside without a washer. |

Rod B is correct on his description of the original aluminium solid rivets. They were not split rivets as is so commonly used. This goes definately for TDs and TFs(see the Archives) and I'm pretty sure for TCs as well! Cheers Rob Grantham TF3719("Aramis"),TF9177("Athos"). |

OK. I stand corrected. Rod or Rob do you have a closeup of the picture of the rivets from both sides? |

Chris, Images are from a NOS TD side screen.

Great pictures. Looks like the nuts are painted too. Not surprised. |
