MG TD TF 1500 - Side light red dots
I have a rechromed side/turn signal light and a new lucas "red dot" that I want to place. Does not seem to fit. Anyone have a tip for fitting the red dot without bending the lamp? Tom '54 TF |

Lightly sand the dot? |

Not unusual for the platers to not consider what the end dimension needs to be there. I had to have mine redone because of that. |

Mine fit real tight too but I was able to get them installed with a little lube and a hell of a lot of thumb pressure. As Dave Sheward said, maybe a little light sanding wouldn't hurt. They might have been designed that way to keep the water out. |

I took mine down a bit "too far". A slight smear of clear silicone worked and is probably better in the long run. |

Got it guys. Thank you. Used a small file and went around a few times. Then secured it with a dab of super glue. Tom '54 TF |

Why not buy a new one? Moss 154-900 - on;y $4.95. Outrageous price for a tiny piece of plastic. I once bought a full bag (50) for 15¢ each - sorry, only one left, and that's for me! Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

Gord Of course I got a new one. The 60 year old one was thin, crispy and funky. New one still needed a trim. Hard to imagine a bag of 50 of these. Were you in the side light rebuilding business? Tom '54 TF |
T Norby |
Nope. Not in the biz of rebuilding the Lucas L-130 sidelamp, but that was way back in the early 1960s when Lucas maintained a warehouse in Montreal. They were so inexpensive, I ordered a "s tandard package" (turned out to be 50) for $7.50 and ended up giving them all away, except for what I kept for myself.
