MG TD TF 1500 - Sidescreen and Hood Clear Vinyl/Plastic

'Hi All,

I am after the best quality automotive sidescreen and
rear window hood clear vinyl that is currently available, preferably within Auatralia.

I remember when the TF1250's sidescreens and hood were
being made(Stayfast) by a skilled upholstery man here in Perth and he indicated at the time that there were two(2)
choices for the window clear material- a cheap version
and the more expensive alternative. I chose the better quality version and the screens/rear windows sixteen years later are as good as new. Unfortunately the upholsterer is no longer with us.

Obviously the material sought must be automotive suitable and UV resistant. 40 gauge?

Any leads/brand name on the best gear to use ?

Cheers

I would be having a yarn with a marine canopy builder, marine environment is considerably harsher than Terra firma.

Thankyou Graeme. I have heard of a product called
Regalite which is apparently found in Marine circles.

I am quite determined to get a good product to help prevent any yellowing over time.

The labour involved in doing the make and fit up of the hood and sidescreens is going to be expensive so I only want to do it once on the TF1500.

There goes originality. :-)

I watched quite a few videos from the American ‘Sailright’ company before starting to make the top and sidescreens for TF2071. They had quite an extensive section on the various clear vinyls they offer and their properties. Search “Sailright clear vinyl”. As I have an industrial sewing machine I didn’t consider it necessary to spend a lot more money on the clear vinyl (and freight charges) as I can replace the 1mm (40gauge) clear vinyl from the local Clarke Rubber shop if I live long enough for it to be necessary.

Particularly comments regarding blue tint and use in automobiles. Wonder if this applies to Aus "Regalite is the only brand actually certified for automotive use".
