MG TD TF 1500 - Single square nut missing
I was able to repair all my capture nut housings on the side curtain box. I took the box out and was easily able to bend those four back into shape; the four on the front side I was able to squeeze back into pretty good shape using vice grips etc. I think they will do just fine. Now I'm cleaning up the 1/4 BSF 26tpi countersunk screws and the nuts themselves. Unfortunately, I've lost one, and I don't have a BSF tap set, or I would make my own. I put a call into Abingdon spares (searching the archives that seemed the only place that has them) but I thought I'd ask; maybe someone has a spare one? For want of a nail... |

Geoff, I have a "nail" for you. I need your snail mail address. Street address and zip will do. |

Hi Geoffrey, I thought that a set of 3/16 to 3/8 BSF taps and dies were part of a T series tool kit. If not they should be along with a TIG welder, a Centre Lathe, a Plasma Cutter, a Stretcher/Shrinker and if you need to do any body frame work a large Band Saw. Joviality aside, BSF taps and dies are easy to find second hand in the UK and are inexpensive since few people now need them. Jan T |
