Rob, are these chronometric or magnetic instruments? Bud |

Bud, I hate to be dumb but I don't know the difference. They are the original from a 52. It is just a reflective tape, does it matter? Rob |

Any chance that you're asking about gauges, e.g., ammeter, oil pressure, water temperature? Early speedometers and tachometers use a clocklike system that makes the needle tend to move in a somewhat 'jerky' manner. They are flat-faced. Later speedometers and tachometers use a spinning magnet to drive the needles and move in a smoother manner. They also have 'dished' faces under the needle sweep. Check out http://www.ttalk.info/EarlesImages.html for some looks inside of dash instruments. Bud |

Rob, Google John Chadwick in England & he can sort you out. I tried to find some in Sydney with no luck. It's actually a dark green translucent material, like the coloured sheets you find in A4 stationery folders, which allows the adjacent dash mounted bulbs to illuminate all four instruments. Just cut to size. Craft & stationery stores here had none. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |
