MG TD TF 1500 - Speedo ID requested

I have this speedometer that was in a box with some other gages and I don't know what car it is from. Does anyone have a clue? I'd like to put on on eBay and let someone put it to good use. It'll never be used by me. It appears to be the same size as a TD unit but it has a different color on the dial. Thanks,

Mark

Mark
Looks like an MGB speedo.

Not MGB. If it is about the same size as the one in the TD, I would guess Jag. Cheers - Dave

Try a TR3.
I think most Jags went to 140MPH or 160

Mark, if you get me the numbers off the face I can look it up in my library... I have a great many older Smiths and Jeager catalogs and cross-over lists.

I am pretty sure it came from a Triumph TR3, like that in the photo.

Kevin, the number "1180" is under the odometer which I think has to do with the gear ratio. There is a serial number above the odometer which is "6307/04".
The back has a number which is "1880". I don't know if that is just the number for the case or if it is significant to a car style.
Any help would be appreciated. It is a good looking instrument and I'm sure that someone would like to put it to good use. Serves me no good sitting in my shop. Jesus, you might be right. Mine closely mimics your photo. Thanks, Mark

The 1180 number would be the cable turns per mile. Here's the TD figure:

Definitely, the part number and the tpm figure correspond to the speedo used in the early Triumph TR2/TR3.

Jesus,

Thanks for the info. Mark

The 6307/04 was only used in the TR2 models - it was Standard-Triumph part number 108192. It was the only speedometer used in the TR2 cars.

TR3s had 6319/00 or /06 or /04 or /02 depending on overdrive / non-overdrive and the axle ratio supplied.

This info is from original Smith's factory catalogs dating from the late 1960's in my collection.

Kevin, that is good info. Thanks, Mark

My pleasure, Mark... glad to help. Besides, what good it this huge library I've accumulated if I don't use it to help folks?! :)
