MG TD TF 1500 - Split Exhaust Manifold

This relates to my neighbor Peter's TD 10879. I'm pretty sure that a couple of years ago I posted a picture of Peter's split exhaust manifold and somebody said that it was a fairly popular west coast aftermarket item. Of course, all of that could be just a dream but, anyway, Peter now has a leak between the split manifold and the dual exhaust pipes. Of course, the standard gasket doesn't work. Does anyone know where we can get manifold-to-pipe gaskets for a dual exhaust TD?

You’ll likely have to make your own. Should be able to get exhaust/header gasket material at your local auto parts store or speed shop.

I'm sorry to differ, but attached are several pix of a TF from the factory, with dual exhausts.

This was right here in my home town of Rockburn, Québec, and I can assure you, that the owner, the second owner, did not make any modifications, herself. I know her well and the car too.

The car is now in Belgium.

There were a couple manufacturers of these manifolds. One of them was Huth Muffler Company in Burbank, California.

Huth, Solt, and Douglass all made them in the US.

I hate to disagree with Gord, but I very much doubt the factory would ever provide an American aftermarket split exhaust. As far as I am aware, there was no British split manifold made. It could well have been an add-on from the original US selling dealer, but not the factory.

No, I'm afraid you will have to make your own gaskets. You might be able to go to a specialized exhaust shop, and look through their catalogs to find something that could fit.
