MG TD TF 1500 - Standard or roller rockers

I recently purchased a head that did not have a rocker assemly. I run a stock engine but will be adding a supercharger this Spring so I was considering updating the head while I was in there.

When I looked at the price of buying pieces to make up a rocker assembly I was wondering if a roller rocker would be more cost effective and efficient.

I am currently helping a vintage racer restore his Mini engine and he uses these roller rockers in all his racers.

Do you have any experience on this upgrade or change from OEM. Also could you offer any source for these roller rockers.

Thanks

Talked with Len yesterday afternoon. Really a informative conversation.

Hear is what I learned. I was expecting the roller rocker to be a complete unit like the one on my friends Mini. Len informed me I still needed a shaft, pedestals, etc. Because of this it did not make economic sense to just buy the roller urockers. In addition, Len told me other then reliability there was no power advantage to them with a standard engine.

In this investigation I did come across a good analogy of a upgraded cam and roller rockers and a supercharger. Think of a TD with a supercharger as a V8 and a cam conversion as a 4 cylinder with a turbo charger. In a V8 power is closely distributed over the normal power band and a turbo which knicks in at a specific rpm range.

For me this helped me understand the difference without actually driving both.

There is no comparison between a hot cam and a supercharger. The supercharger give huge improvements in torque across the entire range, whereas the more power a cam gives, the narrower the RPM range gets. And equally upgraded, a normally aspirated engine will never give the power of a blower.

I have roller rockers on one car, an MGB. The only reason I went with them is that I needed more lift than standard rockers could give me due to a heavily worked engine with a supercharger on it.
