MG TD TF 1500 - stupid ,stupid me !!!!!!!!!!!
Today I decided to check for any loose bolt and nut on my 53 TD . Coming to the lower radiator hold down bracket ( two bolts on each side ) and found them somewhat on the loose side . Yes you guess right I snapped two of them, one I could get out of the nut case but the othher I had to drill out. At least that was the plan. Carefully with not to much pressure the drill went in and then it happened : had to change my kneeled position a bit and the drill went straight in to the lower tubes ( lost my balance so to speak ). Coolant all over the place and me pissed being so stupid doing it the way I did. OK start laughing now. Question : ============== As we have n o rad shop in the neighbourhood here specially nobody with at least some working expirience on MG. I may have to order a new rad ( Moss ) or with your help gent's who in the USA has the knowlidge to repair / replace the core. Sorry for the long post but it helps me to cool down a bit, Gerard |

Gerard, you cannot perform the repair? Hot soldering iron, flux, silver solder and perhaps some copper pieces/ tubing and give it a go? Regards, Tom |

Tom I looked at it but it is a :no go !! in they area I drilled . Cheers, Gerard |

If you've only cut a couple of tubes I suggest you cut the fins away, crimp them closed, and solder them tight. It's not likely you'll ever notice the loss of a few tubes. |

Today I repaired 1 tube. the old fashioned way ( copper around it and solder) It was apain to do but now leakfree again. Cheers Gerard |
