MG TD TF 1500 - Sunday club stuff

Coffee in town

MG LaVerne

Headed for a 60 drive to have lunch with our members down south. Ed took Bill (of TC fame) with him.

And this is the reason we are called the Whithworth Nuts

Top down 65 mph..mid February.

I guess I didn't get dropped on my head enough when I was a kid...I took the B ...with the top up...and the heater on.

Lunch here with our group. Some who drove their LBC some who din't..same as at home.

A correction..it was Saturday..maybe I did get dropped on my head enough.

Any way one of the purposes of going to this place was to check it out. This will be the second starting point for the Glenwood Springs Rallye June 13,14,15. The Longest continuing rallye in North America..62 years.

Let me introduce you to the tour master...ME!

Come on out you will have fun!

One more note. When I got home a fellow called that wanted to join us (Jag sedan owner) and told me there is another TF in town hidden away for some 40 years. A 55 1500...so now I've gone from the one and only to one of three. Hope to meet him and see the car soon.

Lots of fun. Not much beats a crisp winter drive so long as it's sunny. I posted the following three weeks ago elsewhere (probably not as crisp as your drive but fun all the same):
Left this morning from Gowensville, SC (just south of Landrum) - temp 40 F (4.4 C), hood down (heck, I don't have a hood but what the hey!) and headed up the Saluda grade for lunch with 7 other LBC drivers including a beautiful 59 MGA Coupe and a nice dark blue MGB. From there over to the east of Hendersonville for a wine tasting and then back down US 176 through Tryon to the barn. Bright sun and up to 51F (10.5 C) on the return leg. Icicles as big as your arm hanging from the rock outcroppings. Just glorious!
(I thought I could copy and post an image from our FBCC newsletter but apparently I need the more robust version of Reader that I have at the office so I'll do it in the am. Drat!)

I'm not sure this advice will work every where but don't let old man winter get you down I remember when even I was in Maine we'd have a drivable day every now and then. Get out and warm up the oil.
