Another one comes back!

Got a real nice note from the guy the other day after I commended him on changing the listing. Seems like a very nice fellow.
Very receptive to the idea that what owner "told him" and what is "actual" were two different things.
The listing shows that now.

5 days left and very near $18k as of this morning.
(Appears to have no reserve!)

IMHO: "34k miles and survivor" are debatable, but still a very nice car.
Believe we had a thread not long ago on just what the definition of "survivor" is. This could very well be a benchmark for that discussion!

Occasionally I pull out the feebay ad for my TF. It most certainly was not "a 100 point car" as stated. Would have been the deal of the century if it had been!

I'll be curious to see what this one fetches. Over what I paid already.

This is a real nice car. I really like that Swiss dealer emblem on the bonnet. Has anyone seen one of these before???

Glad he made some updates to the listing but there is some things he mentions that is a little bit of a stretch. I bet it will go more $$$ now that the description is more accurate than before.

In any case, when this car is sold the new owner can correct some of the issues in particular the interior color and will have a real nice TF with interesting historical provenance.

Be interesting what the final price will be when the hammer drops.

Insulation fitted under the bumper over riders and paint sheen raises some questions on authenticity of originallity. A $A45K car would need to be a 1500.
G Evans

My brain still can't get wrapped around why/how a car with "original paint" and so few miles on the clock has had the engine removed/rebuilt, the seats and carpet replaced....ect ect ect.
David Sheward 55 TF1500 # 7427

and the engine and transmission painted black.....?

It will be need to be removed again to get it the correct color.
Frank Cronin

It's not original paint, black attracts the heat and breaks down. Any original black painted vehicles I have seen are always dull and do not have the gloss this has.

Look at the condition of the edges of the fenders, wings, guards, all are not factory straight, they are all irregular. bad repairs or ware and tare, can not be original paint in my opinion.

100,000 plus miles probably travelled in the first few years.
Rod Brayshaw

Let's please make sure we are criticizing the car, and not the seller - he is only reporting what the owner has told him. He has already taken this listing down once and made every good effort to incorporate our suggestions; I think he has done a good job. See the other threads listed above for details.

This auction ends today. Up to $26,850 USD with no reserve. I'll be watching to see what it gets.
Frank Cronin

I still agree with Rod on this one. This car has at least 134k miles and its probably a late 60's restoration that has sat around for 40+ years.

There are so many changes to this car it would fill a whole page to document them.

Maybe the car is worth $26k. Thats what the market can determine. But its no survivor.

Well. I think it was PT Barnum that said ...

I just took a peek before logging in here.... 32K Wow.
Frank Cronin

Red flags always wave when this message appears:

"This listing was ended by the seller because the item was sold."

To me that usually suggests that the seller decided the bids were not high enough, and cancelled the auction. In this case it was ended less than two minutes before the auction closed.

Quite a coincidence, no?

IMHO: Should have taken the $32K ...That was ALL the money! (and then some)
If he is pulling the "end the auction" because it did not reach expectations I take back everything nice I ever said...that's BS.
I bid on a car years ago the guy did that on. Got back in touch with me months later and expected me to still buy it for my bid (2nd highest bid of auction). Threatened me with legal action if I Didn't go through with the deal! I never laughed so hard.

If it comes up on flea-bay again look for a high bid that will be retracted 2 minutes before end. LOL
