MG TD TF 1500 - Tach face O-Ring

The tach face o-ring is currently not available from Moss. Here is a low cost fix that worked for me.

Purchase some .125 screen spline that is available a the local hardware for repairing window screens.

Using the tach case cut a length of spline to the size of the needed o-ring.

The spline is hollow. Use a short piece of fine wire inserted into the spline to hold the ends in alignment.

I used the new UV adhesive advertised on TV to glue the ends together. It worked like a charm. The glass face fitted snuggly with no shifting or rattle.

Some auto parts stores used to sell material to make your own "o" rings. they supplied a glue? to seal the end.I have never used itso it's only heresay.

I imagine the same situation exists elsewhere, Aus bearing suppliers stock lengths of O ring rubber in a number of diameters.Even have a mandrel to support the material whilst it is being glued.

Here's where I get a lot of my O rings, backup rings and hydraulic seals.

They do in fact have supplies to make your own out of bulk material and a special glue and it does work quite well.

You guys are right. You can buy o-ring material by the foot, but in small town, no big industry, Florida I could not find any. Also, I'm impatient.

I bought a kit for the make-your-own route a couple of years ago. I guess I'll get around to it one of these days at about this time ...
Or probably follow Dave DuBois link and pay a very reasonable amount for the ones for speedo and tach.
