MG TD TF 1500 - TC Starter Question

I know, I know - this is a TD/TF forum... But there are so many of you out there that know so many things, and the TA/B/C part of this forum is DEADSVILLE!

I bought a TC starter that had been on some other sort of car, since there was a plate on the rear instead of a TC starter switch, and a stud to which a solenoid cable would have been hooked up. The switch-area internals are otherwise empty.

The long and short of it is, does anyone have a photo or list of the internals of the TC starter switch area, so that I can see what is missing?

Thanks very much.

Tom,
Here are a couple of images from completely worn out spare starter I have. The starter is stamped 255378. I think you would need the complete rear plate and contacts.

Max - MANY thanks - I think that showsa me perfectly - assuming that yours has everything it needs!

Tom,
To my knowledge the only things missing are the switch and the cover that goes over the end of the square drive on the armature.

I looked at some more pictures of my starter, and will call a friend about the needed parts - including screws! I wish you were closer, as I would buy your starter, to be sure.

Does anyone make an aftermarket high-torque starter to fit the TC, as they do for the TD/TF?

Shouldn't be too much longer, and my $14,000 TC should be on the road - looking pathetic, as found after 20 years of sitting under a tarp, but still!

Gratefully,

Tom,

Yes to the high-torque starter question. Same as used on a TD/TF only a larger pinion gear (you can buy the gear separately if you have a TD/TF high torque starter you don't need).

Tom,
If you strike out with parts from your friend it may be worthwhile for me to post the needed parts off this starter over too you. Let me know if I can help. I think the copper contacts are just about useless but new ones are available.
