MG TD TF 1500 - TD 2-bow Side Curtain Frames needed
I've got a peculiar situation. The car being restored is #4265. The owner has had the car since the late 50's/ early 60's. It's had the same side curtains and top since he's had it. It has the 2-bow top. Just got the side curtain cover kit for the 2-bow and it didn't match. After some measuring it appears nearly certain that the side curtain frames are for a 3-bow top. It's got the curved corners where the frames match up and the measurements all point to 3-bow. I'm assuming that at some point early on the side curtains were lost and replaced with the 3-bow. They must have just crudely fit since they wouldn't be quite the same size. Does anyone have a full set of 2-bow side curtain frames looking to sell? Also is anyone looking to buy a set of 3-bow that have been blasted and painted. The original fabric and trim pieces can go with them. Thanks, David Parry Owner, Rod Man Restorations LLC |

I will have to check mine out. I think I may have an extra set. I have to get to them somewhere in my totally messed up garage. |

Make sure you read the Moss Motors article on the side curtain frames, it has great pictures and measurements. I think on an "info " tab on the SC page on the web site. George |

Yes I looked into Moss's information that they send with the kit. That is what makes me believe that they are for a 3-bow. The measurements and profile are closer to the 3-bow type. This car must have had a pretty rough early life. Started out as a Woodland Green car with an eye-piercing green interior. Then the outside was painted white with the bulkhead, grill, and wheels painted red. The seat was re-covered black. To match this they then painted the interior black. Crude holes drilled in the bulkhead to add a heater. They then apparently lost hole saw because they drilled probably 25 holes in a circle to add a temperature gauge to the dash. The list goes on but all of this happened in the first 10 years before the current owner bought it. I am happy to say however that the car is finally being restored to it's former glory. Actually a bit better. Woodland green (Elm Green with the PPG numbers), Biscuit interior, tan stayfast top, and the right colors on all the other stuff. Tom- Thanks Geoffrey-Thanks, I'll check. |

Still raining and snow here in MN wonderland. Hope to get into the garage this weekend. I have to move a bunch of stuff including the car and it has just been to wet and cold to get it done. Will try again this weekend. |
