MG TD TF 1500 - TD Dashboard Pattern
Is there a dashboard pattern available anywhere? PO used a 3/4 piece of veneered plywood on top of the deteriorating inner fascia board. I cant spring the $300 plus for a spiffy dashboard but would like to make my own. Regards, Jim |

Yes there is. Patrick Earles made it from a pattern I made, and then gave it back to me for safe keeping. Contact me off the board at dave@dbraun99.com Dave |

Jim: I have a set of Moss repro aluminum dashboard trim I will donate to you. You pay the shipping and its yours. Probably $15 or so I would guess. |

Guy's I still have my original dash. I made a new one from an old mahogany book matched drawer front panel. I would be glad to send it out for someone to us as a pattern also. Email if interested. Located in Bay co. Michigan.

Thanks to all of you for your quick responses. I'll contact you by email. I really appreciate your help. I have a progressive muscle disease that' going to put me in a wheelchair eventually and I am trying to get on the road while I can still put the clutch in. Thanks Again Jim jhageman777@gmail.com |

Jim I'm just finishing final jijsawing of both my dash & sub-dash having replaced both items. The total thickness of both items should be about I 3/8" or 36mm with the outer dash about 1/2" or 12mm. I made my dash 5/8" or 15mm thick. This total thickness is driven by the space available between the 5 brackets holding the sub-dash, which should be the more substantial of the two pieces of ply & the inner face of the scuttle. Your dash at 3/4" or 18mm seems over the top. I've seen a few restored cars here with a proud dash & it's not a good look. I've test fitted my inner & outer pieces a few times to ensure they overlay each other nicely, particularly around the glovebox & the bottom edge, the goal being to finish flush with the inner face of the scuttle, allowing for the thickness of the vinyl dash facia trim. Good luck with your mission! Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

On the subject of dashboards does anyone have a source for the bead trim (basic formica counter trim) otyher than Moss's $236.00. Counter bead was easily bent and conforming just can't seem to locate source and an alternate product which could be used |

Geeze. I guess my free offer to Jim should have been reconsidered :-) I am sure he will put it to good use and it will be well worth it to get another car on the road again. I must confess though that I actually pulled the trim out of the trash can when I saw this thread. It was minutes away from going to the big dumpster in the sky. I thought it was worthless. I had just recently replaced it with an original set that I bought years ago. My original disappeared during my first restoration when I got monetarily shocked by how much it cost to chrome plate it and put it aside for the repro set. Big mistake I paid dearly for. |
