MG TD TF 1500 - TD Engine Number/ Chassis Number
Can this number be traced back to the original cars chassis number? XPAG-TD2/11962. PJ |

Tom Lange might be able to do it, but it wouldn't be easy. If it's any help - Lazarus, Car No. 10855, was originally built with Engine No. 12251 Bud |

I just looked at the Merson list and they are all over the place. I seem to remember a data base that would cross over if you typed in the engine number but I can no longer find it. |

Just rechecked Lazarus. Database says that the Engine No. was XPAG/TD2/LHX1122 . Where'd I get the 12251? AHA!!! it's 112251!!! Bud |

Another case of the truncation of the records. It's 11225, not 1122 Bud

LaVerne... I think this is what you were talking about but it goes by chassis number: http://www.tregister.org/search_prod.php |

Oh ye of little faith... Took me all of 30 seconds to find it. XPAG/TD2/11962 came in TD 11510. Searching through all of the on-line production records would have been absolutely no help - see below: TD11510 XPAG/TD2/LHX???? 08-Nov-1951 TD11510 EXLNA THIS is why having the actual production records is so great! As time permits I am making notes and corrections, to be forwarded to John James who believes he or his son can make the necessary changes to the on-line data-bases. My notes will include corrections (mis-transcriptions when originally entered), missing final digits for XPAG/TD2/LHX entries, and notes about defective and replacement engines at the factory. I'm happy to help with any such questions. Tom Lange MGT Repair |
