MG TD TF 1500 - TD headlamp bracket

Two questions.

1,Could someone please measure the distance from the centre of the hole (radiator side) to the centre of the stud end at the wing end (where it shows through the bracket. I am working an a car that has been in a crash sometime and the two are different sizes and would like to know which is correct.
2, I presume that as one is bent that they are cast steel and not iron. Is this correct.

Both sides measured exactly the same from center of the big bolt to center of the outer bracket stud on the back side: 10-1/4". George

I had a similar problem and found that it welded easily. So must have been steel.

Many thanks George, we have one longer and one shorter. This car has had a very hard life and are having to resort to brute stength to get it back into shape.
I now have to put the dumb irons in line to get the wings equidistant to the rad.
I has been lying dormant for over 40 years but we hope to have it on the road for the owner in a month or so.

Thanks Mel, the hydraulic press should make them the same.My view is that if they bent once, they will bend again.

I recall the flanges that the big bolt goes through are fragile so be careful with those. George

I will put in the stepped bolt with a spacer so as not to load the flanges.I will trail fit them before that and if it does not look too bad leave them alone. She must have been driving it bent 40 years ago anyway.
