MG TD TF 1500 - TD Shelley Perfect Pattern 10' Screwdriver
Anybody know what sort of timber the handle is made of? I need to replace both pieces & would like to match the original. I'm guessing ash. TYIA. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

It could indeed be ash, but I suspect it's hickory. |

G'day Kevin. I thought hickory was just a North American timber. If so it would seem to be out of place on an English car. Still have no idea what the original handle was made out of. I got the following pic offline from a local aficionado. He has replaced the handle on one of these, though he is unsure what the timber he used was. The other handle is original. Anyone care to guess which is which? Cheers Peter TD 5801 ![]() |

Hmm... you may be right, Peter. Doesn't really look like ash to me, though. Perhaps it's walnut? |

Bottom handle is replacement? |

Boxwood maybe? It's always been popular with toolmakers and carvers. |
