MG TD TF 1500 - TD/TF Registration List

Sorry guys, I forgot who was updating the list of registered TDs and TFs around the world a couple years ago, any help? PJ
PJ Jennings

PJ,

George Merson, it's on TTalk.

Thanks Jim, much appreciated. I know there was an older list and someone else picked it up to bring it up to date. PJ

PJ, see http://www.ttalk.info/car_lists.htm The Merson list is only for TDs and has been continuous for some time. The TF list, originally started by Jeff Payne, has now been taken over by Rick Taylor. Bud

PJ, I received George Larson's spreadsheet and have been adding cars to it as I find them. I'm trying to add details to the cars such as history, modifications, original colors, body numbers, previous owners, etc. I'm not in anyway trying to be in competition with any other list. I used Larson's list to identify my car's body numbers. I just thought the additional information would be valuable to future owners. Hopefully I can find an online home for it someday. If you send me your email I'll send you a copy of the database FYI.

Thanks Bud, I sent you a message on TTalk, but this info. answers my question. Thanks. PJ

The TF list is certainly incomplete, my car is not on it but its listed by the MG Car Club, so I suspect a number of British owned cars are missing.

Tim,

Do you have all you need on TF9503?

Anything at all on TF7789, spied it in town about 10 days ago,

Peter

P G Gilvarry

Peter, I have all the info on your car except the body number and the original interior color. I don't have anything on TF7789.

We have a bit of a dilemma. For instance, George has been updating the TD list for quite a few years now. His approach is to check the info about every TD that he comes across against his latest list and updates the list when he finds a difference. George then sends the updated list to me a few times a year (2 or 3 times) and I publish it on Ttalk. George only considers Car No., Engine No., RHD/LHD, Location.

Jeff's TF list is handled in a similar manner, but more parameters are included, e.g., color.

Some folks are also developing lists of MG lbc's that deal with a lot of things, e.g., Body Numbers.

I strongly suggest to those concerned that they send car information directly to George or Rick at the email address shown in the car list. Bud

Bud, what dilemma? As you know (since we discussed it) I'm the one maintaining a database with a lot of things including body numbers. Not sure why you seem to be asking people to limit the amount of information they share on the cars. Is there any valid reason for not sharing information to all three people? I would think the more details available about our cars TABC, TD and TFs would be valuable to current and future owners. As you know the database I'm maintaining was originally started by Gordon Lawson. It is available to anyone and I don't feel I own it. I'm just adding information as I receive it. I do not suggest that anyone limit their input to anyone regarding their cars. I have submitted my cars' information to George for inclusion on his list. Jeff and George are welcome to the database I have to cross reference it with theirs. If you send me their email addresses I'll send them a copy. Again, since the more information we can collect on our cars the better it is for the owners, I'm at a loss as to why you want to limit the dissemination of that information. No hard feelings just confused.

Regards

Tim

Bud, I found their email addresses.

Tim, what I've experienced is the situation where some folks feel that sending their info to one registry should be enough. It's not my intent to limit the dissemination of information.

Gordon's database was being compiled strictly for an interest in the oddity of Body Numbers. It's fine that you have expanded it into an all-comprehensive database of T-cars.

I'm just trying to assure that the old TD & TF lists get considered. Someone viewing the TF list would spot three locations where they get access to Rick's email address. The TD list has two places to just click to send info to George.

Bud I just told George and Rick that when I publish my list I will ask everyone to send them any information they provide to me. In addition I'll send them my list periodically to update their list if they like. I've expanded Lawson's database to include information not available anywhere else. It would be a waste to abandon it with such information available for current and future owners. With the factory records gone information provided by owners on identification numbers, history, original colors and modifications is irreplaceable. As I said I don't consider myself as the owner just the keeper. No one is required to provide car data to me or anyone else. But three different databases that contain different information on our cars seems to be valuable rather than a bother.

Barrie Jones in the U.K. keeps a comprehensive register of MG TF details, and current owners.

Barrie was a featured speaker at GOF-South during the Spring earlier this year.

In the last six months I have come across two new owners of 1955 MG TF 1500 roadsters within three miles of my location. Both new owners who just want to drive them. For me it is like Christmas: Three TFs, two Green and Biscuit, and one Autumn Red, driving in convoy most weekends. They certainly turn a lot of heads and are a great advert for the Marque. The two new owners have restored vehicles, whereas mine is the Ugly Sibling. It has certainly motivated me to get out the clay bar, purchase a new pot of Carnauba wax, and make the paintwork glisten.
