MG TD TF 1500 - TD7481 - need help for history
A friend of mine owns TD7481 EXLU (May 1st 1951). He recently bought the one-and-only Roeloffzen hardtop (see thread 'Hardtop I haven't seen before' of May 25). TD7481 comes from California (Redwood City) and was exported to Holland in 1996. The car isn't on Merson's list and (not yet) in the T-Register. Specific information that may ring a bell: TD7481 EXLU - XPAG/TD/LHX7463 Californian license (black) plate ZIA 031 with (tax?) stickers from 1970 and 1971 When in California: Black with red interior, red wheels, red tonneau, red cover spare wheel, red hood, shortened front fenders. Once equipped with a Judson Supercharger, only the plate on the dash remains. In the car 2 invoices, soaked in oil so difficult to read. One of BAP of Redwood City (division of Intercontinental Autoparts Inc) and one of Auto Radiator Service, both located on El Camino Real in Redwood City. In 1996 the car had no rust but was in a very bad shape. The current owner thinks TD7481 was driven until the seventies. She is fully restored now and "back on the road'! I hope someone out there recognizes this car. Any help is much appreciated! 3 Pics of the unrestored car to follow... Jasper ![]() |

Nick: If that car belonged to a club it was probably the Sorry Safari Touring Society. http://sstsmg.com/html/ Why not send them an email with you pictures and description? |

Chris, I'll give it a try, thanks for the tip! Nick (Jasper) |

I was a member of SSTS around 1975 and can't say I remember seeing that car. But contacting the club would be the best way to see if they have a listing. |
