MG TD TF 1500 - TF 2071 regulator choice
| In the various buckets of bits that are slowly becoming TF2071 again I find two regulators. The one on the right is labeled RD1061/1 and is probably the original with the other a slightly more modern replacement.
A link to http://nebula.wsimg.com led me to an article by a Dr Holden entitled ‘Saving the Lucas RD 106’. The idea that the simple addition of a few inexpensive modern components to the later regulator can reduce what is possibly the most significant cause of regulator failure - burnt out points - has a lot of appeal over spending something over Aus $200 for a full electronic conversion. Any comments or guidance would be appreciated. Chris

| As the image seems to be inverted the older 1061/1 is on the left! And can anyone tell me how to rotate the image? Chris |

| I used photoshop. This site seems to have a mind of its own as to picture orientation. Tim

| Chris, the Lucas catalog lists the RBI06/l as the control box / regulator for the 1952 to 1955 T Series. Note the difference in catalog number RB106/1 from your posted RB1061/1. Just FYI. Tim |

| Thanks Tim, a better light and magnifying glass confirm it’s a B not a D! Chris |

| Chris. Just by way of confirmation, the regulator that came with my car (TF2250) was RB106/1. Dave H |

| Somewhere along the road I acquired an RB106/2. The date stamped into the case says 7 59. I have no need for it, especially since my switch to the Dynamator, so if anybody wants it, drop me a line. Bud |
