MG TD TF 1500 - TF clutch adjustment

The clutch adjustment on the late TD and TF confounds me.
If I intend to create MORE clutch pedal free travel, do I unscrew the clutch rod adjusting nut...meaning, move it more to the FRONT of the car?
The manual and other work books I have are vague on this point. It specifies 7/8 inch free travel but not how to get it.
I go one way then the other way and get confused.
Experts, please clarify.

Thanks George, but I have this info. Just read it again and it does not answer my question. Does the adjusting nut screw out (to front of car) or in, to increase free play on pedal.

Tom,
It screws out towards the front of the car to increase play.

Tom, try thinking of it this way - if the nut weren't on there you would have all the free play in the world. Bud

Thanks guys
For a year I have been toying with the O'Connor modification along with the Moss adjustable rod.
I could not make that combo work. Finally this weekend, I went back to the original MG rod and the O'Connor mod higher hole on the clutch lever.
I finally have everything working and am enjoying a lighter clutch.
It does seem that my clutch is very sensitive to turns on
the operating rod. My clutch has the roller type throw out bearing. Done by the PO. A slight bit too much free play and I grind gears. A slight bit too little free play and I worry that the TO bearing is in contact with the clutch plate.
I wonder how that changes the geometry of the clutch?

As I re-read my posts and consider my issues, it begs the probably obvious question. Is my clutch disc worn too thin? Do I need a clutch job???

I fear that I may.

We experiment and try and live and learn. After some frustration with my clutch adjustment, I had an "ah ha" moment. The pedal stop bolt is adjustable. I had neglected to consider that. I moved the pedal stop to the other end of its throw, and that gave me a PERFECT clutch adjustment.
That, with the O'Connor modification, make the clutch action better than it has ever been.
And.....I am confident that my clutch disc is not worn out.
