MG TD TF 1500 - TF Hard top
Many years ago I fitted a fibre glass hard top to a TF, now looking at a possible repeat installation. The shape at the time was similar to the soft top, although the profile could be improved. Still used side curtains. |

Here is a pic of my Buchannan hardtop I purchased a few years back (have not got around to restoring it yet). These were advertised in the MGCC NSW Spotlight club magazine in 1959. I have heard of one that imitated the soft top too, although not seen one. I keep a national register of TF's, let me know if I can add your TF details and look up to see if I have any history on your car. mbmagilton at msn dot com Matthew. ![]() |

Thanks for the picture, will keep that in mind. The hood shaped top I think was a JWF or something like that. Not a TF owner again yet. |

G, Are you looking get a TF hardtop now so you will have it when you do become a TF owner again? Steve |

Matthew: Is this the company that made your hardtop? http://www.buchananmotorcompany.com/ |

Yes, that's the one. Same address too. Matthew. |

In the 60S there was an Aus company, J and S Fibreglass, manufacturing fibre glass hard tops for all manner of vehicles. I had one of their tops fitted to a Mk3A Sprite that I owned and bought from Wards on Paramatta Road. Occasionally their name appears in used car advertisements. Graeme |

I worked in Parammata for Optus for a few months 25 years ago. Isn't that one of those Kevin Bacon six degrees of separation things? :-) |
