MG TD TF 1500 - TF horn won't fit

The low pitch horn went in easy with room to spare on the right side, but the high pitch hits up against the front valance and the steering rack. I have 5 horns to choose from, none are original to the TF (my car came with an electric long-trumpet horn, like a semi truck).

The horns have 2 different brackets. Here's the low pitch horn, that's mounted.

Here is another type of bracket on a high pitch horn. After restoration, I find that horn won't fit. Oops, forgot the photo. See next post.

Here's a high pitch horn with a different type of bracket. It won't fit either (it hits the front valance and steering rack).

Does the TF take a particularly-sized horn, that I don't have?

I've seen a pair of expensive L brackets for sale(405/800 & 900), specified for the TF, but in all my reference photos of horns, I have never seen them used. And, not quite sure how they would bolt to chassis.

thanks for any assisatance,
Tyler

They are a tight squeeze Tyler. Mine chafe on other components. Suggest some discreet little rubber pads. Don't be tempted to hang them upside down as they will collect water.

Matthew.

I hung mine upside down, and drilled a hole in the low point of the domes to drain water. Has worked for 40-odd years.

Tyler,as Matt., has indicated they are a tight squeeze.

Many of the later T1500s had the 'open' style affixing bracket whereas the TF 1250s had the 'closed' full bracket. Either way, they should just fit without any rubbing.

Sometimes either the horn bracket can be bent off line and/or the chassis extensions can be slightly out of factory spec.position as a result of accidents etc. Worth a careful look.

Not sure if their absolutely correct, but here's my horns and the second photo of one of Tylers brackets is what's on my horns. PJ

This is the type of brackets that are on my horns.
