MG TD TF 1500 - TF main bearings needed

Does anyone have a set of NOS standard main bearings for TF 1250.
I would prefer Vandervell, A&E, Glacier.

Please contact me via intx@comcast.net off the site.

Hey Colin - the only one that I think might have them would be Mick at Keystone, he used to do Twists Summer Picnics and had a stock pile of them. MMMGTCARS@yahoo.com should be correct. Sam

Send Basil a note. He didn't have any when I was looking for some but I got a note later that he at least had some Vandervell rod bearings. They may be gone now but it's a starting point. I found some ACL tri metal rod bearings on Australia ebay..but no main bearings.

Thanks Sam, I was just about to start a hunt for rods & mains next week. We tried a couple of years back and nobody had any anywhere. What are folks doing that are buying these new crank, Moss's 'County' brand, lord I hope not. Russ

I have a set of MOWOG mains that are 0.003 undersize - little more than a polish on a std. journal.

Abingdon Spares are showing them in their catalog, all sizes, not sure what brand they are selling. PJ

Moss & ASL both sell the 'county' brand, buyer beware.

At least 2 engines in the area have County bearings which are working just fine. Yes they took a bit of hand fitting. But so did a set of original bearings to a new crank in 1988! I think that is the only brand being currently manufactured. SW- how long has it been since you had contact with Mick? George

Those bearings you guys bad mouthing are bi-metal bearings. The old good ones were tri-metal. Be careful of familiar names like Vandervell, because some chinemen bought the name and make (yet more) bi-metal bearings to people who think they be getting some top quality stuff. The mains always require hand fitting. But I thought Abingdon Spares sells King Bearings??? Only Moss sells stugg is generic white boxes so I think you wrong about "county" bearings being sold by Abindon Spares. Yes/No?

Just sent a note to Martin at AS asking him whose bearings they sell. PJ

As far as I know, King is the only company that produces the bearings presently for the XPAG and yes they are bi metal bearings. They have the capability to produce tri metal bearings and do for other engines..including the MGB. It would be nice if they had done so for the XPAG. Maybe when the suppliers run out of stock?
L E D LaVerne

Abingdon Spares sells mostly King, some ore Repco and some are County, depending on the size needed. I'd check with them before ordering. PJ

I think I researched this one last year and reported back on it. King bearing is a major supplier marketing under 'KING'. They are also the manufacturer of the 'County' label that is being sold. There is also another label that they sell under not to mention the private label stuff. LaVerne is also correct, they are only bi-metal not tri-metal like Glacier & VP. There was also a fellow out in Oklahoma I think that had a 'stash' of NOS. I'll look thru my records and see if I can find his name & contact info. I don't follow EBAY at all, anyone seen any there lately? Cheers..............FOG
