MG TD TF 1500 - TF seat bucket wood lathe
What is the recommended wood for the lathe in the seat frames (etc.) that's not prone to splitting when a brad is hammered into it? Does anyone have a good source? thanks, Tyler |

Tyler I used marine grade 3 ply successfully. I had to double it up in some places if my memory serves me correctly. Graeme |

I used a mixture of marine and aircraft grade plywood on the TD seat. Regards Declan ![]() |

Declan: Real nice job on the seat frame. Beautiful work and great attention to detail. |

heally nice job on the seats; however, I was asking about the lathe strips that are riveted to the steel seat frame. The strips are thin and narrow, like wooden yard stick material (only not quite), made of some kind of wood that won't splinter when tacks are driven into it. Where does one get this stuff? thanks, Tyler |

Tyler I knew what you were referring to, see my previous post. 3 ply should be available from any good timber merchant, a jig saw will create the profiles that you require. If you are real lucky you might find some used packing material that will do the job, this is what I used. Graeme |

I maybe highjacking this thread but my query is connected. My TF seats are original but the red leather is dry and tired. Has any used the leather reconditioning products sold by the "furniture repair clinic" Their YouTube videos show absolutely superb results. Happy Christmas to all Jan T |
