MG TD TF 1500 - TF survival rate

This topic may have been gone through many times before. Of the 9000 TFs produced, how many are probably still out there, running, waiting for a resto, or just sitting in a barn for a long time?

I would love to know the answer to this question. I have heard estimates of arrround 20%.

Someone once compiled a list of TF owners. I think there is a link to it on Bud's T Talk. Last time I looked at it, it was out of date. I tried to contact the person responsible, and got no reply. I have owned my TF for 8 years, and last I looked, I was not on that list.

I've got 2, a 1250 parts car and a 1500 (my second car!).

My guess is that 2,985 survive.

I keep an Australian list. About 1,100 TF's came to Australia and about 70% have survived (even if only as restoration future projects).
I also have a print out of the Jeff Payne TF list done about 10 years ago to which I have been adding ebay sightings. Have not counted them though.

If survival rate in Australia is 70 % it would not be unrealistic with a 50% overall survival rate as most of these cars were exported to regions where corrosion is not a major killer of cars. So maybe more than 4000 TFs are still around.

That is great news for young prospects and hangarounds..

The MG Car Club's T-Register has 2684 TF's registered

I would assume that it is likely that most of these are in the UK.

A note 263 TB's are listed remarkable since so few were made in 1939

That's a great photo Matthew. Is there anyway to get a copy via the internet? if so, would like to have one.

Matthew -- You can forget about my request, as I was able to get an excellent print from the attached photo you sent with your message.

That makes 69% of the 379 TBs survive.
