MG TD TF 1500 - TF tail light plinth screws
Hi Can anyone steer me toward a new set of six screws to fasten the TF tail light plinths to the fenders? I don't see them listed anywhere. Thanks in advance Tom '54 TF |

Tom - As I recall they are 2BA phillips (or possibly Posi-Lock) and they wouldn't be more than 3/4 long, more likely 1/2. Cheers - Dave |

they are the same screws that that hold the pointy thing on the glass lense of Lucas SFT 576. |

Mine are No, 10 UNF x 1/2 " long screw which is a pretty common phillips head screw. |

They were 2BA, but 10/32 US machine screws are a close enough replacement, your choice of heads. I use stainless with Socket heads. |

Don, thank you for that tip. I'll stop by the hardware store after work tomorrow with a plinth and try the 10/32 out. Dave, I'll be in touch with you if they don't work out. Anyone know what the word "plinth" means? I know what the THING is, but its descriptive is such an odd term. Tom '54 TF |

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search An ancient Greek plinth. In architecture, a plinth is the base or platform upon which a column, pedestal, statue, monument or structure rests.[1] Gottfried Semper's The Four Elements of Architecture (1851) posited that the plinth, the hearth, the roof, and the wall make up all of architectural theory. The plinth usually rests directly on the ground, or "stylobate". According to Semper, the plinth exists to negotiate between a structure and the ground. Semper's theory has been influential in the development of architecture.[2] Many houses in flood-prone rural areas of Bangladesh are built on plinths ("homestead plinths").[citation needed] The word is also used for the base of a cabinet or an audio turntable.[citation needed] In dam engineering, the "plinth" is the link between the ground and the dam. "In dam engineering, the "plinth" is the link between the ground and the dam." So, it needs to be conductive or the lights won't work...thus making you curse? |

Don Thanks again. I bought a nice brass set, 10/32, at ACE. They fit well. Also, thanks to the guys who informed me on the defination of "plinth". Now we know. Tom '54 TF |
