MG TD TF 1500 - TF Wiring-Rear
According to the wiring diagram I have, these 4 Red wires do not exist. I haven't a clue what their for. A group of ground wires come out in the same area clustered in one eyelet, that's a no brainer, but does anyone know what these Red wires with bullet connectors are for? PJ Sorry for the fuzzy photo! ![]() |

Paul, the red wires are for the two tail lights and the license plate light. The fourth one would be the feed from the wiring harness. Ttalk doesn't have a colored wiring wiring diagram for TFs, but the one for late TDs shows the 4 red wires. The WSM has the TF wiring diagram on Page N.29 See http://www.ttalk.info/LateTDWiring.htm Bud |

Paul, see the wiring diagram, "snap connector" 4 way just to the right of the rear light symbol. They supply the rear and number plate lamps. Ray TF 2884 |

OK, let me explain a little further. The tail light wires are in their separate sub harness each going to the proper side, the tag light is also in it's separate sub harness with a black and Red wire and the fuel tank sender wires are also in their separate sub harness! There's no need for the 4 Red wires that I can see as everything else has it's own wires going to their proper areas. This is a Moss harness and is very well color coded. Optional reversing light? Stumped. PJ |

I'm going to do a continuity check on the Cluster of Red wires and see where they go, maybe that will give some clue to their purpose. ?? PJ |

Paul, Check archive 2015 "correct grounding". This shows the where they go quite clearly especially the photos on the Original TF site. Connecting all the reds makes up the circuit. As I said I would post a pic of mine but it is cluttered with trailer wiring. Ray TF 2884 |

In addition see photo 223 this shows it clearly Ray |

Thanks fellas, please excuse the dumbness on my part! After looking at the diagram again, I traced the red wires and found out they all are the same circuit, with the 4th wire going back to the light switch. I put them together with a duel snap connector. Thanks again for all your help. Pays to read the directions a little more carefully! Hope I retain my sanity before this thing is done. Grin. PJ |

And, you'll find that the black (ground/earth) wires are handled the same way. Bud |
