MG TD TF 1500 - TF9097 turns 60 today!

Today is Australia Day holiday down here, but more importantly it is the 60th birthday of TF9097! She arrived in Melbourne and was sold new through Lanes Motors (still has the dealers plate) to Richard Goff and registered on the 2nd of June 1955 GHU.629 (and still wears those actual plates).
My Father bought the car from Richard in 1973 and I took possession/custodianship in 1989. In 1991 I drove around Australia (15,000 miles in three months) and I have been enjoying the car ever since.

Hi Matt.,

Congratulations on your ownership of TF9097.Quite an incredible association. You have been a long time, willing
supporter of fellow TFers in their various quests and queries sharing in all aspects of originality.

Your TF1500 has been 'put to the test' on many occasions
with mighty reliable results!

You're a credit to our group Matthew. Looks like your dad took a tighter line through the corners. Great pics.

Matthew
Congratulations to you and your father for keeping the TF on the all these years and to you for doing the around Australia trip.

In 1960 the road to Ayers Rock would have been all corrugated gravel - so roughly 270 km each way - that would have tested any vehicle.

FYI. Some Gold Coast MG Club members are proposing to do a quick around OZ trip in 2016 to take in the National Meet in Perth during Easter 2016. Others MGs will be welcomed.

Congrats! I love that trailer. .. Someday I will make one!

Thank you everyone.
Stuart; yes, pretty rough roads in those days and when I did my big trip some parts of the WA route #1 were still gravel (not to mention my detour up to Cooktown).
Geoffrey, the tow bar is sitting in my shed at the moment, let me know if you ever need pics.

Cheers,
Matthew.
