MG TD TF 1500 - TFs 62nd Birthday

TF9503, aka HDA26/9503, 1955 MG TF 1500, rolled off the production line at Abingdon on February 22nd, 1955.

Was later sold to it's first owner on July 22nd, 1955 having survived the sea journey to Australia.

62 years later it is now in Buffalo, NY.

Born in the UK, grew up in Australia, retired in Buffalo, sadly it is not eligible for Social Security. Sometimes I think it runs better than it's owner who was a mere 6 going on 7 year old when it was made.

Plans are for it to be taxed and on the road for the first weekend of April.

Happy Birthday 9503!! Beautiful car. What are you using as hood (bonnet) props? Regards, John

If you relate genetic engineering to automobile restoration your TF is probably a better species than when it was born. At least it looks that way.

For a bonnet (hood) props I use a piece of wood, going to get some snow markers from Tractor Supply and puts rubber tips on them I think.

I have seen all sorts of ideas but unable to figure out how some of them work.

Thanks.

Peter, I got two from From The Frame Up and they work great and look like they are factory items.

Hope Peter does not mind me jumping in.

TF9097 finished assembly on the 26th February 1955 and arrived in Australia shortly after, being registered in Melbourne on the 2nd of June 1955.
62 fun filled years for three lucky owners.

Matthew.

(It is the 26th on this side of the date line as I type this).

Interestingly the day Matthew's car was a Saturday, wonder if demand was such that they worked 6 days per week.

Our cars were possibly voyage partners to Australia.

Only 5 weeks and I plan on being on the road.
