The first time I saw one of those, it was doing inverted loops over a rice paddy,, What a fantastic machine!!!!! Maybe it was you up there ????? Steve |

Not me Steve. I didn't get to there until '69. Also, as we have some many friends from Oz on the board, let me also give a huge thanks on this American holiday to all of your fabulous advisers to the ARVN Marines. Those Aussies were the coolest, calmest guys under fire I have ever had the privilege to support! |
L Karpman |
Larry, how can I view your avitar? Thanks. Jud |
J K Chapin |
I "think" you go to "Customize" and check "Yes" on "View other users pictures" Don't hold me to that :-) |

Larry, I liked what you did so I made this my avitar for the day (bigger image below) - my Mom in 1943 working at Aberdeen Proving grounds, MD, USA. Jud

Jud - " my Mom in 1943 working at Aberdeen Proving grounds, MD, USA" There were Rosie the Riveters everywhere during WWII. We are particularly aware of that living in a Navy town with a Naval Shipyard in it. When I first come up here in the Navy to put the USS Iwo Jima in commission, there were a few Rosie's still working in the shipyard from the war years. Several years ago, the roommate of my Mother's in a local nursing home had a poster of a B17 next to her bed. Talking to her daughter, I found out that the woman had worked for Boeing, building the B17s during the war. We also met a woman at the home my mother in law was in, wearing a T shirt with a picture of the B25. I asked her if she had been in the Air Force and she said yes, she was a ferry pilot of several of the planes during the war (the only thing that they would let the female pilots do at the time. Jud - You said that cartoon was the saddest thing you had ever seen. I agree, the first time I saw that cartoon, I walked away with tears in my eyes. Cheers - Dave |

Thanks for the thanks and appreciation. John F. Quilter LT(jg) Gulf of Tonkin, USS Wichita (AOR-1) 1971-73 |

I wanted to also pass on my thanks to all that served. Here is why. This is a picture of my father visiting the grave of his brother. My father was a sailor on submarines in WWII and Korea. His older brother was killed at Saipan. Sgt Edward Cunha. My father is 89 years old and still doing very well. His memory is sharper than mine and I truly enjoy listening to him tell about his service years. Bruce E. Cunha LTC (Ret) US. Army. 1972 -78 WIARNG 1989 -08 ![]() |
