MG TD TF 1500 - Thankyou Jim Melton

Completed cutting and refitting the RH louvered panel on my TF today. Jims instructions sre spot on only digression was to use a very thin metal cutting blade with a 4 inch angle grinder to cut the panel.

Tuning carburetors is now a simple task, wish I had incorporated the mod earlier. Lost count how many times I have had to remove the RH front guard to gain access to engine components.

I am procrastinating on whether to do the LH panel, access to components on that side is not too bad.

Graeme, if you look at the updated page on Ttalk about the modification, http://www.ttalk.info/TFPanelMod.html, you'll find that Jim Melton died a while ago. Bud

Looks good, glad you were able to use the instructions.

It would make getting at the dynamo a whole lot easier on the other side. Can we see pictures of the panel in place?

Apologies I wasnt aware Jim had passed away, he was obviously a very clever man.

I have attached an image of the top section of the panel back in place without the securing bolts fitted or modified head light wiring remounted.

From my perspective the modifications are not perceptible to the "non concourse" observer.

Mate I am sure a man with your abilities will have no trouble, if I wssnt visiting Europe this year the States might have been on the agenda.

I buckled and am doing the LH panel today, cutting the panel with the small angle grinder makes for a very speedy outcome just have to keep the heat down to avoid too much paint damage.
