MG TD TF 1500 - The 'W' Knob

I have a '54 TF in the process of being reincarnated and have some confusion. All of the diagrams, pics and descriptions of the dash layout for these beauties, show the following knob identification: S-starter, C-choke, A-accessory or auxiliary, L-lights & P-panel lights & map lights. My car has no P knob but it does have a "W" knob. Wipers ??? The wiring diagram in the workshop manual shows NO "W" wiper switch connection at all. Abingdon does indicate there is a "W" knob available but no further explanation. Any insight at all would be greatly appreciated. The old car was my Dad's back in the day (he's now passed) and it's time for it to be back on the road before I leave it as an unfinished bucket list item as he did. Thanks in advance for your help.

Widget??? I have no idea as the neither the TC TD or TF uses a W switch. The wipers switch is incorporated into the manual knob on the drivers side. The TC and TD are both on the wind screen motor. Somebody here will know.

If it's round instead of an octagon it may have come from an MGA.

Mystery solved. Obviously a non-original knob on the old car. I'll be sourcing a new proper "P" for the car. What a great group. Thank You all.

Have you tried the switch?
shot in the dark:
By chance does the car have glove box covers?
Possible dad added a switch to the wipers (as I did) so you don't have to take off the covers when it rains to turn wipers on.

Just a thought.

Thanks for your comments and potential wrinkles. The car has no glove box covers but I will confess the entire windshield wiper drive and motor have been inoperative forever and are next on my list to check out. I suppose it's possible the 'P' switch got repurposed at some point, so I'll verify that.
