MG TD TF 1500 - Thermal & sound insulation

Can anyone share their opinion on thermal & sound insulation for TF? (I am evaluating the Quite Ride Solution offer) Is it a good idea, marginal or do not bother.

Thank you

I watching one of those car / truck shows on Velocity one Saturday or Sunday morning. They were sound proofing an old Ford pickup truck. The product was called Lizard Skin and can be applied with a spray gun or can be brushed on. Expensive and the reviews on it are mixed if you read other car forums. lizardskin.com

I did part of my 280Z with Quiet Ride and was very pleased with the product. Not sure how it would work on a T-series, but certainly the firewall/tunnel areas would stay cooler. George

Dynamat & Dynaliner worked great for me if you mean the body tub sections. Archives are full of stuff.

I used Dynamat in our TF. Can't give a before and after comparison, did very little driving before. But it seems quieter than I remember my old TD, and the doors really go "thump" when I close them.
Put it on the floorboards and inside the doors, against the metal.

This is a good place to start:

There is a lot of difference between panel vibration, and conducted sound and heat. I bought a box of his damping tiles and put them all over the place - mostly in the middle of panels (see photo).

I used this material, "EZ Cool" for insulation:

It is very easy to use. I cut pieces and used rubber cement to glue them in place. I use brush-on glue. I'm not a fan of the spray stuff.

This photo is suppose to show the EZ-Cool glued in place over the tile. Per recommendations, I used two 3/16" layers over the firewall.

I don't have anything to compare it to, but the method seems theoretically sound (ha!), and it seems to work well. It is also reasonably cheap.

I did Izzy (54 TF) with the same As Al did with Emma.
Dynamat, floors, firewall, boot panels, and doors.
Much cooler & quieter!
The disclaimer:
This was 12+ years ago...there are a lot of products out there now that were not around then.
As to "worth the effort" :
IMHO: YES!

Eastwood sell "Thermacoustic" insulation for heat and sound insulation. Costs $125-150 a box of the sheets which are durable aluminum skin one side, adhesive peel and stick on the other. Easy to cut and fit. I used a box for the FFR Cobra replica I built and think one box would pretty much do a TD/TF. Eastwood is very efficient and easy to deal with by phone or internet.

I used the quiet ride solution for my TF - very happy with it. All the pieces were a good fit - only a little fettling needed.

The kit was originally missing the material for under the dash and the front of the foot wells ( they weren't in the design or listed in the parts)

I made some templates and sent them to the very helpful support team who made them up and sent them out free of charge.

They were keen to get it right and also update their kit. Check they are including the update when you order.

Makes a huge difference to the quality of the sound. Lots less tiny rattle noise.

Yes I would recommend.

If anyone is interested, Eastwood has "Thermacoustic" sound/heat insulating on special as of today. (see my post above).

Boris,
I can't give you a before and after since I put this in my TD right after I got the car. It wasn't very expensive and was easy to install. As I remember the company was good to deal with.
Picture to follow.
