MG TD TF 1500 - Three Curved Washers on TD rear tiebar
Where the handbrakes go through the rear "tiebar", there are three 1/4 inch 1" long BSF screws that screw into the bracket that joins the driveshaft tunnel cover to the rear tiebar. Each screw has a captive nut welded on the tiebar, and a curved washer (to fit the countersunk screw head). Can anybody tell me the part number for these washers? I can't find them on Moss and mine are rusted beyond worthwhile cleanup and repair. Thanks |

Goeffrey, Have you tried auto upholstery shops? PJ |

Paul, it would not have occurred to me that they would carry such stuff. :) I'll call around. Is there a standard "name" for these washers? |

Hmm. Mine has bolts. Is this the same as you are describing? I have also seen some cars that use the flooboard machine screws and special washers. You can see one on the floorboard just beyond the tunnel. Is that what you are talking about? If so I don't know if you can buys these separately. They come in floorboard kits. ![]() |

Yes, Chris, that's the same set of holes, mine use bsf screws with countersunk heads and a curved washer to fit the countersunk head. |

Geoff; Those washers do not look too bad at all. They are not available separately from Moss. I had the same problem and I was able to clean up the washers and coat them with cold galvanizing spray for welding. They ended up looking as new. I looked and I do not have any that are in better condition than those. You might find someone on the board that has a couple of new ones to spare. I tried to make some from normal finishing washers... with no success, but I am not a metal worker at all. ... CR |

These are the same as the floorboard screw and washer. As I posted elsewhere the Moss part # is 323-828. Item 10 on the shop supplies page, http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=33922&SortOrder=970#top |

Abingdon Spares also carry these. BB |

Mine are the same as in Chris photo, hex head screws. It could be they changed at some stage of manufacturing? Chris, another challenge for you! Grin. PJ |

Geoff: Paul has challenged me. What is your car number? Mine is 19629 so it appears in late 52 at least they might have switched to bolts, probably sooner. |
