MG TD TF 1500 - Thumbs up to Craig Seabrook

I sent my windowed ignition switch, a bunch of parts from other ignition switches and an older reproduction horn/dip switch to Craig Seabrook at The Witworth Shop. https://www.whitworthshop.com/

Craigs shop built me a correct ingnition switch for my 50 TD and provided me with a correct horn/dip switch including correct wiring and a beautiful shiney back plate.

Just wanted to give a thumbs up to Craig and his shop. It's people like him that allow us to keep our cars going.

Can you post a pic or two Bruce? I do know that he does great work. I'm keen to see the lock and key that he used. With a 1950 TD it should be a MRN series lock and a matching Wilmot Breeden Union key. Where he beats my work is with the silk screened bezel. I use a locally made decal, albeit one that is totally UV protected with a perfectly reproduced original font and with a clear protective film that is impervious to mechanical damage. Cheers

Bruce, I second your "Thumbs-up". Some of the best craftsmanship I have ever seen was done by Craig and his team at the Whitworth Shop!
Mark Stolzenburg

They do the best work by far. Highly recommended. The turnaround isn't always the fastest of course but the wait is worth it.

Here is the ignition switch.

Thanks Bruce. The rechromed bezel looks terrific as does the silk screened face and what looks like a new lever. It is likely though that originally a 1950 TD would have had a MRN series lock as mentioned above. The FA was introduced either later that year or early in 1951 when the remaining stock of MRN's had been exhausted. Was he able to supply an original Wilmot Breeden Union key? If not I may have a NOS FA 558 if you're interested. I'll check my stash. Cheers

Thanks Peter.

I was going to ask the question about the MRN VS FA. Think I will start a new thread on this wuestion as it may take a bit of sorting out.

I will check on the key.
