MG TD TF 1500 - Tie rod (track rod) end - sources?

There's a significant difference between Moss (or LBCar) price for tie rod ends vs Abingdon Spares. Moss $47.50 for a set of 2, Abingdon $38 each or $76 a pair. I've found Abingdon sometimes really has better quality (e.g. rubber parts). Is this the case here? Any opinions/experiences with tie/track rod ends to report? I'll throw the same question out about the brake/clutch pedal shaft: $105 Moss, $125 Abingdon.
Thanks - Peter

Most parts such as tie rod ends come from one of a handful of makers, so the quality is generally not a question. I prefer those that have grease fittings; not all do. If you have the old type on yor car and only the rubber boot is perished, Moss sells new rubber boots.

As for the pedal shaft, I weld up the worn places, turn them down to size, groove and drill them for better lubrication, replace the pedal and frame bushings, and put it all together. Abingdon won't be much better than Moss I suspect, if you decide to replace.

I just bought the Tie Rod ends from Moss (well LBCarCo) and installed them a couple weeks ago.

They were made by TRW, but they did not have zerk fittings. I didn't know that when I ordered, but frankly I won't drive it enough to ever wear these out.

I am happy with them, but be aware they don't have zerks.

Tom,
Do you do the pedal shafts yourself or send them to the machine shop?

James - I either weld them myself or have them welded up and then have C+C Machine in Ellsworth turn them down to the bushing diameter. They aren't necessarily pretty, but they work just fine.

The new frame bushings usually need honing after installation, since they become slightly deformed.

OK great... that was the info I needed. Bottom line for me is that the Abingdon tie/track rod ends have grease zerks, an original feature I'd like to keep. (Have to replace as there is play in them). Re the pedal shaft sounds like an order from LBCar and then, yes, I hope to do or have someone do the extra grease channels as Tom suggests, as per Jeffrey Delk's helpful article on "The Unavoidable Repair". Funny thing is that I didn't think of these part questions as being related but turns out they are -- grease being the issue.
Thanks again for the shared wisdom - Peter

Peter - Grease is the word.
