MG TD TF 1500 - Timing cover Gasket

Anyone advise on this please, how critical is the thickness of the timing cover gasket on a TF 1500,
the one in the set just don't fit so I will make one.
Supplier of bad Gasket set did the right thing and refunded all my money even the shipping.
Thanks

Timing cover gasket should just be paper gasket thickness, about the same thickness as an old paper grocery bag. Honestly, though, it's a faiorly complicated basket to cut out, and I suspect it is MUCH easier to just buy one from a reputable supplier...

George,
The paper ones I got from Moss came with a note to soak in water if they were too small. Apparently they shrink with age. I've replaced it twice and soaked it as suggested and never had a problem with them.

I just got a transmission gasket set from Moss and they are way too small and I think to soak in water is a ridiculous solution. I know paper expands and contract but where are these things made, the tropical rain forest.
I have been working on cars for 30 plus years and gasket sealant directions always says make sure surface is clean and dry not waterlogged so they fit.
This is a bad solution for a product that doesn't fit.

I'm with you Rich on this piss poor quality I say.

It is normal even for OEM gaskets.
