MG TD TF 1500 - Timing cover Gasket
Anyone advise on this please, how critical is the thickness of the timing cover gasket on a TF 1500, the one in the set just don't fit so I will make one. Supplier of bad Gasket set did the right thing and refunded all my money even the shipping. Thanks Regards George |

Timing cover gasket should just be paper gasket thickness, about the same thickness as an old paper grocery bag. Honestly, though, it's a faiorly complicated basket to cut out, and I suspect it is MUCH easier to just buy one from a reputable supplier... Tom Lange MGT Repair |

George, The paper ones I got from Moss came with a note to soak in water if they were too small. Apparently they shrink with age. I've replaced it twice and soaked it as suggested and never had a problem with them. Mort |

I just got a transmission gasket set from Moss and they are way too small and I think to soak in water is a ridiculous solution. I know paper expands and contract but where are these things made, the tropical rain forest. I have been working on cars for 30 plus years and gasket sealant directions always says make sure surface is clean and dry not waterlogged so they fit. This is a bad solution for a product that doesn't fit. |

I'm with you Rich on this piss poor quality I say. |

It is normal even for OEM gaskets. |
