MG TD TF 1500 - Timing light

Need an adjustable advance timing light, anyone have details of a decent make, here in Aus there doesn't seem that many, there is a Innova brand.
some say advance and tacho is that the same as adjustable advance.

Thanks

Stay away from any model that looks like this one. I got 2 duds in a row.

Advance and tach. I thing any digital model will do that. Remember to attach then run the engine for a better reading.

I got the INNOVA 3568. It's all I need.

Accuspark SP8000 over here seemed to get top approval. It has adjustable advance and tacho, both with digital readout. Using the timing light adjust the digital advance or retard buttons on the back of it until the notch/mark on the pulley coincides with the pointer on the block, then read off what advance or retard the distributor is set to on the digital scale on the back. Not enough advance? Rotate the distributor a little, readjust the timing light as above, and read off the advance that you now have. Keep going until you get it just as you want it. The tacho enables you to set it at whatever rpm suits, e.g. 1000rpm.

FWIW,

I was cautioned not to use the inductive type timing light shown above by any manufacturer. There is a lot of interference from the spark plug wires.

I got the old fashioned type that you clip onto the spark plug lead. I have a small adapter that goes between the plug and the lead and has bare metal to clip onto.

I'm not sure they still make this non-inductive type of timing light. I got it on eBay for a few dollars.

Since I switched timing is much much better.

I've had two craftsman units that failed after some use. They were the digital unit with tach and advance. I really liked the way they worked but two failed units into it, I can't recommend them. Has anyone else had that issue?
